  • Besides zircon, zirconium occurs in over 140 other minerals, including baddeleyite and eudialyte; most zirconium is produced as a byproduct of minerals mined for titanium and tin.
  • This is because, when silica is free in the system (silica-saturated/oversaturated), zircon is the dominating phase, not baddeleyite.
  • Minerals associated with chaoite include: graphite, zircon, rutile, pseudobrookite, magnetite, nickeliferous pyrrhotite and baddeleyite.
